Q&A

PBS is a person-centred approach aimed at improving quality of life and reducing behaviours of concern by understanding the reasons behind behaviours and using evidence-based strategies.

PBS is suitable for individuals of any age with disability-related behaviours of concern. It is especially helpful for those on the NDIS requiring specialist behaviour intervention support.

They assess the participant’s needs, develop Behaviour Support Plans, provide training to carers or support staff, and implement strategies to improve behavioural outcomes.

PBS is funded under the ‘Improved Relationships’ category of the NDIS and must be delivered by NDIS-registered providers with certified behaviour support practitioners.

A BSP is a document that outlines strategies and supports based on functional behaviour assessments to reduce challenging behaviours and promote positive alternatives.
