Short-term tenancy, also known as Short-Term Accommodation (STA), provides NDIS participants with temporary housing and support, usually for up to 14 days at a time.

NDIS participants who need temporary accommodation due to a carer’s unavailability, a transition period, or to build independent living skills may be eligible.

It includes accommodation, personal care, food, and participation in community activities or programs during the stay.

STA refers to funded temporary housing options, while respite generally refers to giving carers a short break. However, both serve similar goals and may overlap.

No, it must be specifically approved as part of the participant’s NDIS plan under Core Supports.
