See the 2026–27 NDIS cleaning rates, how much they changed and what you can expect to pay for house cleaning from your plan.

The NDIS cleaning rate for 2026 is a maximum of $60.10 per hour for house cleaning in most of Australia. It rises to $84.14 per hour in remote areas and $90.15 per hour in very remote areas. These price limits come from the NDIS pricing schedule 2026–27, under support item 01_020_0120_1_1, House Cleaning And Other Household Activities.

This guide explains the NDIS cleaning rate 2026 in plain language: what the price limits are, how they changed from last year, how travel and cancellations work, and what NDIS cleaning rates mean for your plan budget.

NDIS cleaning rate 2026: house cleaning is capped at $60.10 per hour nationally, $84.14 remote and $90.15 very remote

What is the NDIS cleaning rate for 2026?

The NDIS cleaning rate 2026 is the highest hourly price a provider can charge your plan for house cleaning. For 2026–27, the national price limit is $60.10 per hour. Providers can charge less than this, but not more, when your plan is NDIA-managed or plan-managed.

NDIS cleaning rates 2026–27 (maximum per hour)
Support itemNationalRemoteVery remote
House cleaning (01_020_0120_1_1)$60.10$84.14$90.15
House or yard maintenance (01_019_0120_1_1)$59.01$82.61$88.52

The NDIS cleaning rates above apply from the NDIS pricing schedule 2026–27, which is effective from 24 September 2026. The same schedule sets rates for related household support items, so it helps to know which one your provider is using.

What is a price limit?

A price limit is a cap, not a set fee. According to the NDIS, providers cannot charge more than the maximum price limits, and the NDIA cannot pay a claim above them. Many NDIS cleaners charge the full $60.10 per hour, but some charge less.

NDIS cleaning rates rose about 3.6% from $58.03 in 2025–26 to $60.10 per hour in 2026–27

How has the NDIS cleaning rate 2026 changed since 2025?

NDIS house cleaning rates went up by about 3.6% for 2026–27, so the NDIS cleaning rate 2026 is $2.07 an hour higher than last year's national rate. The national rate for house cleaning rose from $58.03 per hour in 2025–26 to $60.10 per hour in 2026–27.

If you compare quotes or NDIS cleaner rates online, check which year's NDIS cleaning rates a provider is using. Some websites still show the 2025–26 figures or older numbers, so always check you are looking at the NDIS cleaning rate 2026. For every other support line item, see our NDIS price guide rates.

There is no weekend or public holiday NDIS cleaning rate: the $60.10 hourly limit applies every day

Does the NDIS cleaning rate 2026 change on weekends or public holidays?

No. The NDIS cleaning rate 2026 is the same every day of the week. House cleaning has one hourly price limit under the 2026–27 schedule. Unlike personal care items, the house cleaning item does not have separate Saturday, Sunday, public holiday or evening rates. The $60.10 national NDIS cleaning rate applies whatever day the cleaning happens.

This is a common point of confusion. Some websites list higher weekend NDIS cleaner rates, but those figures belong to other support items, such as personal care. You can compare them in our guide to NDIS hourly rates for support workers. If a cleaner charges a weekend loading for house cleaning, ask them which support item they are claiming under.

NDIS house cleaning is claimed under support item 01_020_0120_1_1 in the Core Supports budget

Which support item number is used for the NDIS cleaning rate 2026?

The NDIS cleaning rate 2026 is attached to one main support item. Most NDIS house cleaning is claimed under support item 01_020_0120_1_1, House Cleaning And Other Household Activities. It sits in the Core Supports budget, under Assistance with Daily Life, in the household tasks group.

  • 01_020_0120_1_1 – House Cleaning And Other Household Activities: essential house cleaning that you are not able to do yourself, such as vacuuming, mopping, bathrooms, kitchens and laundry.
  • 01_019_0120_1_1 – House or Yard Maintenance: essential house and yard jobs you cannot do yourself, such as lawn mowing or gutter clearing. The 2026–27 national price limit is $59.01 per hour.
  • Linen service: clean linen supplied to a participant who cannot do their own laundry without help. This item is subject to quotation, so there is no standard hourly rate.

Remote NDIS cleaning rates: up to $84.14 per hour in MM 6 areas and $90.15 per hour in MM 7 areas

What is the remote NDIS cleaning rate 2026?

The remote NDIS cleaning rate 2026 is $84.14 per hour, and the very remote rate is $90.15 per hour. Remote and very remote NDIS cleaning rates are higher because it costs more to deliver services in those areas. The rate depends on where the cleaning happens, not on your home address in your plan.

The NDIS uses the Modified Monash Model (MMM) to classify locations. If cleaning is delivered in an MM 1–5 area, the national rate of $60.10 applies. In an MM 6 (remote) area the limit is $84.14, and in an MM 7 (very remote) area it is $90.15 per hour. Some isolated towns are also reclassified as remote.

NDIS cleaners can charge travel time and up to $0.99 per km if agreed in your service agreement

Can NDIS cleaners charge travel on top of the NDIS cleaning rate 2026?

Yes, if you agree to it in your service agreement. Under the NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits 2025–26, household task providers can claim provider travel and non-labour travel costs.

The NDIS has said updated 2026–27 guidance will be published soon, so check for changes.

  • Travel time: up to 30 minutes per visit in MMM 1–3 areas and up to 60 minutes in MMM 4–5 areas, charged at no more than the hourly NDIS cleaning rate.
  • Vehicle costs: a reasonable contribution of up to $0.99 per kilometre when the provider or worker uses their own vehicle, claimed under item 01_799_0120_1_1.

For example, if your cleaner travels 20 minutes and 12 kilometres to your home, they could claim up to $20.03 for travel time (one third of $60.10) and up to $11.88 for vehicle costs, but only if you agreed to this first.

Cancelling NDIS cleaning with less than 2 clear business days notice may mean a fee of up to 100%

What happens if you cancel an NDIS cleaning visit?

If you cancel with less than 2 clear business days' notice, or you are not home when the cleaner arrives, the provider may be able to claim up to 100% of the agreed fee.

This is called a short notice cancellation under the 2025–26 Pricing Arrangements.

Providers can only do this if it is written into your service agreement. Always read the cancellation section before you sign, and ask how much notice your NDIS cleaners need. Our NDIS price guide explains the wider cancellation rules for 2026.

NDIS cleaning cost per year: one hour a week at the $60.10 rate is about $3,125 a year

How much does NDIS cleaning cost per year at the NDIS cleaning rate 2026?

NDIS cleaning costs depend on how many hours you use and where you live. At the 2026 national rate of $60.10 per hour, one hour of cleaning a week costs about $3,125 a year from your plan, before any travel.

Example NDIS cleaning costs at 2026–27 price limits

1 hour a week$60.10$3,125.20
2 hours a fortnight$120.20 a fortnight$3,125.20

How to plan your NDIS cleaning budget using the 2026–27 hourly cleaning rate

How do you use the NDIS cleaning rate 2026 to plan your budget?

Start with the hours you need, then multiply by the NDIS cleaning rate per hour for your area. This shows how much of your Core Supports budget NDIS cleaning will use over your plan.

  1. Work out your hours. Decide how many hours of cleaning you need each week or fortnight, based on your home and your support needs.
  2. Use the right rate. Multiply your hours by $60.10, or by $84.14 or $90.15 if you live in a remote or very remote area.
  3. Add agreed travel. Include any travel time or kilometre costs written into your service agreement.
  4. Multiply by your plan length. A 12-month plan has about 52 weeks or 26 fortnights.
  5. Compare with your budget. Check the total against your Core Supports funding, leaving room for your other daily supports.

Your plan manager or support coordinator can help you track spending, so your NDIS house cleaning rates stay within budget until your next plan reassessment.

NDIS cleaning price limits apply to NDIA-managed and plan-managed participants

Who do the NDIS cleaning price limits apply to?

The NDIS says its maximum prices only apply to NDIA-managed and plan-managed participants. Self-managed participants can agree on a different price with their provider, but must still use their funding in line with their plan. What the NDIS cleaning rate includes: the cleaner’s time for essential cleaning, not cleaning products

What does the NDIS cleaning rate 2026 include?

The NDIS cleaning rate pays for the cleaner's time to do essential household cleaning you cannot do yourself. It does not pay for cleaning products, equipment or groceries, because these are everyday living costs.

Typical tasks include vacuuming, mopping, dusting, cleaning bathrooms and kitchens, washing dishes, laundry and changing bed linen.

The NDIA (National Disability Insurance Agency) decides whether cleaning is reasonable and necessary for you, so funding depends on your disability, your home and who you live with.

Do NDIS cleaners charge more on weekends?

Not for house cleaning. The 2026–27 NDIS pricing schedule sets one hourly price limit for House Cleaning And Other Household Activities, with no weekend, evening or public holiday loading. If a cleaner adds a weekend rate, ask which support item they are claiming under.

How much do NDIS cleaners charge per hour in remote areas?

In remote areas (MM 6), NDIS cleaners can charge up to $84.14 per hour for house cleaning in 2026–27. In very remote areas (MM 7), the limit is $90.15 per hour. The rate depends on where the cleaning is delivered, not where you usually live.

Can NDIS cleaners charge for travel?

Yes, if you agree in your service agreement. Under the 2025–26 Pricing Arrangements, providers can claim up to 30 minutes of travel time per visit in MMM 1–3 areas, 60 minutes in MMM 4–5 areas, and up to $0.99 per kilometre for vehicle costs.

Can an NDIS cleaner charge less than the price limit?

Yes. The NDIS cleaning rate is a maximum, not a fixed price. Providers can agree to a lower hourly rate with you. Paying less per hour can stretch your Core Supports budget and give you more cleaning hours across your plan.

Does the NDIS cleaning rate include cleaning products?

No. The NDIS cleaning rate pays for the cleaner's time only. Cleaning products, equipment and groceries are everyday living costs, so they are not funded by the NDIS. Ask your provider whether they bring their own products or use yours.
